MIPEX has been used as a key indicator in a recent study on youth unemployment and demographic pressure on migration in the MENA region.
The research article shows that youth unemployment is an important factor in explaining emigration flows from the MENA region.
The results also demonstrate that the migration-generating effect of youth unemployment is contingent upon demographic pressure on young people.
The authors use MIPEX as a way to evaluate migration policy since it gives a rich, multi-dimensional picture of migrants’ opportunities to participate in society.
