An article in Newsweek Japan Version has cited MIPEX in a commentary on the Japanese government’s attitude toward migrant integration. Hiroki Mochizuki hypothesizes that Japan’s low scores in MIPEX for migrant political participation and anti-discrimination are linked; and are reflected in the negative response to the (now rejected) draft ordinance in Musashino City which would have allowed foreign residents to vote in local elections.
