MIPEX cited in an article about migrants’ health policies and access to health care in Portugal

Authors Ines Casquilho-Martines and Soraia Ferreira recently cited MIPEX in an article, published by MDPI, about migrants’ access to health care in Portugal within the European framework.

The article uses a mixed-methods approach, analysing health policies in European Union countries and public health key indicators from statistical secondary data collected from Eurostat and Migrant Integration Policy Index.

Specifically, MIPEX was used for the analysis of the ranking of immigrant integration policies in all the countries of the European Union. Furthermore, the data provided by MIPEX was fundamental to systematise the evaluation of immigrant integration policies in the field of health.

The study demonstrates that Portugal, despite being known for its favourable immigrant integration policies and developed access to the health care system, needs greater investment to overcome limitations and social inequalities that inhibit migrants’ access to health care.
